  3. Great post! I’m a little ashamed to say my list doesn’t contain any films from India, I’ve not seen too many films from that area (Apu Trilogy is next on my list) but here are my top five at the moment:

Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter…and Spring (South Korea)
    Oldboy (S. Korea)
    Akira (Japan)
    Tokyo Story (Japan)
    My Neighbour Totoro (Japan)

      1. good list, I love I Saw the Devil too…I love Choi Min-sik films! Anything he’s in I’ll watch

      2. Yeah, I noticed you had I Saw The Devil on your list; I can’t watch “Oldboy” and take it seriously since the hero on there was the villain from “I Saw The Devil”; i just can’t buy that fat goof as a hero. He got owned in “ISTD” and that feels more realistic to me. I will however watch the US remake with Josh Brolin b/c I can buy him as a hero.

      3. That’s Choi Min-sik… I love him! He was so different in Oldboy, plus it came first, it was a classic before I Saw the Devil was even an idea! Love them both. He’s not fat in Oldboy either, he was a lot younger…his acting was awesome.
I’m not touching the remake with a barge pole!

      4. When I watched “ISTD” I put on “Oldboy” later that same day, but I couldn’t take it serious. I still wanted to see the villain from ISTD get his face bashed in b/c I couldn’t separate him from his character in ISTD. No way I was going to start rooting for that guy. lol.

      5. hm, I watched Istd before I saw Oldboy too…although not in the same day…and I like Oldboy more! Also saw him in a new film called New World, pretty good. He’s the bad guy in Lady Vengeance, and he gets butchered at the end of it!

      6. It’s not a spoiler, it’s pretty obvious throughout the film…it’s not a hidden twist or anything.

      7. well the whole premise of the film is that she’s seeking vengeance on the guy responsible for the murder that she went down for xD lol

  4. Oooh, that’s a tough one. I don’t think I could list my five favorite but here are five I think everyone should see:

    1) Battle Royale
    2) Spirited Away
    3) Perfect Blue
    4) Sympathy for Lady Vengeance or Oldboy
    5) Any other Studio Ghibli film
