Day 06: Your Favourite Comedy Movie

 

 

I know, this is a bit premature! I’m posting this at five minutes to midnight when technically I should be posting this tomorrow but I have nothing better to do! It might be cheating, but hey at least I’m doing it.

Bridesmaids is the only comedy film that made me laugh so hard I had tears streaming down my face. I was doubled over in fits of laughter, my sides ached and I practically choked; and this was in the cinema. I don’t very often laugh out loud in the cinema, I don’t know why…I just tend to try and be quiet. As well as being the only film to make me hurt from laughing so much, this is the first film I’ve seen in the cinema where grown men were laughing just as hard as I was! The only time I’ve seen something come close was when my dad cried with laughter over You Don’t Mess with the Zohan. I bought Bridesmaids as soon as it came out on DVD and have watched it several times since and still love it even now. I think it marked a slight change in girly comedies and actually, despite its pink and fluffy exterior, it was a hit among men too. It sort of crossed that line between a girly, feminine comedy and something that’s actually quite ‘butch’-the women are refreshingly ballsy and hilarious and they don’t take themselves too seriously. Melissa McCarthy completely stole the show as Megan, and her quote ‘I don’t even know which end that came out of!’ as she walks into a posh bridal shop and belches sends me into fits of laughter every time.
